▶ Rio llegó a la perrera en abril de 2022 y tenía aproximadamente 1 año de edad a su llegada. Él es un mestizo que fue encontrado vagando por las calles y llevado a la perrera.

Rio llegó a la perrera con otro perro pequeño después de pasar su corta vida hasta ahora atado a una cadena.

Ahora nos damos cuenta de que probablemente fue para evitar que saltara la cerca, ya que le gusta escalar cuando está solo. Trepa ya sea para estar con otros perros o con personas, no para huir. Se lleva bien con todos los perros y es un chico seguro y divertido que necesita un hogar con un jardín seguro, otra perra y humanos que estén mucho en casa.

Deciembre 2022: Rio fue en acogida debido al riesgo de que la perrera se inunde. Nos han llegado estas preciosas fotos y vídeos de el y la familia de acogida nos cuenta:

“Rio es un perro maravilloso y cariñoso que es genial con los niños. Tengo 2 hijas, de 4 y 7 años, y con ellas es un encanto, han sido capaces de hacer cualquier cosa con él desde el primer día. Todavía no he dejado a Rio solo en la casa cuando salgo, se queda afuera en el jardín con mi perra Lupita, donde juegan la mayor parte del tiempo. Es genial con otros perros e incluso es bueno con los gatos. Siempre hay gatos en nuestro lugar y al principio les ladraba, pero ayer estaba acostado tomando el sol con Lupita y uno de los gatos. En el coche lo metemos en el maletero abierto y se sienta en silencio mientras mis hijas le acarician la cabeza. Le gusta jugar, pero luego solo quiere acostarse en el sofá y dormir horas, es un vago jajaja. ¡Él es totalmente adecuado para vivir en una casa!

Rio hizo un pequeño viaje de unas horas con dos voluntarios a la tienda de mascotas. ¡Se portaba tan bien todo el tiempo! Estaba tranquilo y parecía disfrutar del tiempo fuera de la jaula en la perrera. Saludaba a la gente y tenía curiosidad, pero todo el tiempo fue súper dulce y tranquilo y simplemente... ¡Perfecto! Afuera, en el aparcamiento, salió a caminar y no lo molestaron todos los coches y la gente. Había elegido un hueso de masticar en la tienda, que disfrutó junto a nosotros en un banco. Él es genial en el coche también.

▶ Rio arrived at Los Barrios pound in April 2022 and was about 1 year old on arrival. He is a gorgeous cross breed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.

Rio arrived at the pound with another small dog after spending his short life so far on a chain. We realise now that was probably to stop him jumping the fence as he does like to climb when he’s on his own. He climbs either to be with other dogs or with people, not to run away. He gets on with all dogs and is a confident, fun boy that needs a home with a secure garden, another female dog and humans that are home a lot. Rio is an active dog that gets on with all other dogs and is obedient and responds to his name. He is also used to going out for walks on the lead.

April 2023: Rio went on a little trip for a few hours with two volunteers to the pet shop. He was so well behaved all the time! He was calm and just seemed to enjoy some hours away from the cage at the pound. He was greeting people and was curios, but the whole time he was so sweet and calm and just... perfect! Outside on the parking lot he went for a walk, and wasn't bothered by all the cars and people. He had chosen a chewing bone in the shop, that he enjoyed next to us on a bench. He was great in the car too.

December 2022: Rio went into foster because of the risk of the pound is flooding.

We have received these lovely photos and videos of him and the foster family tells us:

Rio is a wonderful, affectionate dog that is great with children. I have 2 daughters, aged 4 and 7, and he is just a darling with them, they have been able to do anything with him from the first day.

I still haven’t left Rio alone in the house when I go out. He stays outside in the garden with my dog Lupita, where they play most of the time. He is great with other dogs and is even good with cats. There are always cats around our place and at first, he would bark at them, but yesterday he was lying down sunbathing with Lupita and one of the cats.

In the car we put him in the open boot, and he sits quietly while my daughters stroke his head. He likes to play, but then he just wants to lie down on the sofa and sleep for hours, the lazy boy hahaha. He is totally suited to living in a home!
