▶ Dixi llegó a la perrera en octubre de 2022 y tenía aproximadamente 8 años de edad a su llegada. Él es un mestizo que fue encontrado vagando por las calles y llevado a la perrera.

Pobre Dixi… Lo que ha pasado en sus 8 años de vida... Sólo podemos intentar adivinar… Cuando llegó estaba tan flaco, cojeaba y estaba muy asustado. No lleva mucho tiempo con nosotros, pero parece un estar un poquito mejor.

Ahora al menos consigue la comida y la atención veterinaria que necesita. Todavía es tímido con la gente, pero cada día se vuelve más curioso. Se lleva bien con los otros perros de la perrera.

Diciembre de 2022: Dixi entró en acogida la semana pasada debido al riesgo de que la perrera se inundara. Su familia de acogida nos cuenta esto después de 13 meses:

Enero 2024: “Dixie lleva 13 meses conmigo, es un perro activo y muy cariñoso, pero en los días de lluvia sólo quiere relajarse en su cama. Sabe orinar y hacer sus necesidades afuera, pero debe tener acceso a una terraza o jardín ya que necesita orinar con bastante frecuencia. Se lleva muy bien con otros perros y camina bien con la correa (no tira). Sin embargo, puede ladrar a otros perros cuando está fuera y con correa. Come bien, ama su comida. Estaba muy, muy delgado cuando llegó a la perrera, pero ahora está mucho mejor, aunque todavía un poco delgado. Tiene una pierna trasera que a veces levanta cuando camina (tal vez se la haya roto en el pasado, pero puede correr muy rápido). Ha intentado escapar varias veces y necesita estar en un jardín o terraza segura. Tiene leishmania y una afección cardíaca, para la cual está recibiendo medicamentos y se encuentra muy bien. He tenido un cambio de circunstancias por lo que es momento de otra casa de acogida o mejor aún una nueva familia para siempre. Es un perro muy cariñoso”.

▶ Dixi arrived at Los Barrios pound in October 2022 and was about 8 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous cross breed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.

Poor Dixi… what has happened to him in his 8 years of life we can only guess… when he arrived he was so skinny, he was limping and was very scared.

He has not been with us for long, but he seems a tiny bit better. Now he at least get the food and vet care he needs.

He is still timid with people, but he getting more curious every day. He gets along well with the other dogs at the pound.

December 2022: Dixi went into foster last week due to the risk of the pound flooded.

His foster family tells us this after 13 months:

January 2024: “Dixie has been with me for 13 months, he is an active and very affectionate dog, but on rainy days he just wants to relax on his bed.

He knows to pee and poo outside but must have access to a terrace or garden as he needs to pee quite often. He gets on very well with other dogs and walks well on the lead (he does not pull). However he can bark at other dogs when he is out and on the lead.

He eats well, loves his food. He was very, very thin when he arrived at the pound but is much better now, but still a bit thin. He has a back leg which he sometimes lifts when walking (maybe broken in the past but he can run very fast.)

He has tried to escape a few times and needs to be in a secure garden or terrace.

He has leishmania and a heart condition, which he is receiving medication for and he is doing great.

I have had a change in circumstances so it is time for another foster home or even better a new forever home. He is a very loving dog.”
